Welcome

Hello and welcome to Chris Milne's photography site, feel free to have a look around and explore.  You will find a blog which will show you pictures along with some context about the events that I have recently attended and there is also my portfolio where you will find some of my best photographs.  There are also plenty of other sections but I'll allow you to have a thorough look around to find out more about who I am and the showcases of my work.

Elgin City vs. Montrose

Because Elgin City had landed themselves a replay in the Scottish Cup against Fraserburgh a couple of weeks earlier - which they went on to win 5-2 - their game that had been previously scheduled that Saturday was postponed.  The fixture against Montrose at Borough Briggs was played on Tuesday 8th November and was an important fixture for Elgin City to remain in form after 5 previous games has seen them undefeated.

This game was to be no different.  In the first half they pressured the Montrose defence who were all over the place and never really seemed to manage to drive deep into the Elgin half.  The deadlock was broken very quickly aswell by Ross O'Donoghue who placed a perfect shot into the bottom corner from outside the area off a Brian Cameron assist.  The lead was then furthered when O'Donoghue, again, fired from outside the box and to improve their lead.  Continuing to force their way forward - it seemed like the game was going to be dominated by Elgin!  Around the half hour mark on their first attack of the game, a wayward cross from Montrose's Scott Johnson found itself in the back of the Elgin net, much to the surprise of everyone in the stadium.

This turned the game on its head as Montrose grasped the reigns and pushed forward up until the first half, fortunately for Elgin it was to no avail and Elgin kept their lead as they went into half time.  After the second half was underway, a brief spell of Montrose offensive play was curtailed as Elgin searched to regain their earlier two goal lead.   An attempt off the woodwork almost saw them succeed, and it was only a few more minutes before they eventually had a firmer grip on those three points as a corner was whipped in for Jason Crooks to direct into the back of the net.  Montrose then pushed on forward in hope of pulling something back from the game, Elgin kept solid though and made sure that they held onto both the lead and the three points when the final whistle blew.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Day is the annual commemoration of Armistice Day and the events of eleventh of November 1918.  It was the day that an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany and effectively marked the end of World War One and took place on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.

Remembrance Sunday is the Sunday closest to Remembrance day and in most nations involved there are events held around the countries to pass tribute to those men who bravely served their nation and some who tragically sacrificed their own life for others.

Guy Fawkes night, Elgin

After an excellent day at RAF Kinloss, I had been looking forward to the eagerly awaited 'Bonfire night' at Elgin's Cooper Park as part of the nationwide Guy Fawkes events on the weekend nearest November the 5th.  Because we were in a massive rush on the way back from Kinloss I arrived with little time to spare and in search of a good space.  Unfortunately I ended up dead centre and at the closest point to the fireworks - this wasn't good as it meant on 18mm it was hard to fit the ground in with the larger fireworks.

A day with 663 VGS

I was invited to 663 Voluntary Gliding Squadron on a crisp November Saturday to spend the day photographing the action.  When I arrived the two Grob G.109B Vigilant T.1 aircraft were already airborne and flying around the clear skies over Moray.

The squadron is now based at RAF Kinloss, which is also used by the Moray Flying Club but after the recent retiring of the Nimrod MR.2 fleet and cancellation of the MRA.4 project the main runway is now serving as a diversion airfield for RAF Lossiemouth aircraft and for the 663 VGS and Moray Flying Club.

Elgin City vs. Fraserburgh

Saturday the 29th of October saw the 2nd round replays from the Scottish Cup taking place.  Elgin City were to host Fraserburgh after the previous weekend had seen a 0-0 stalemate between the Division 3 and Highland Football League side.  This meant that if a similar result happened the game would be taken to extra time and maybe even penalties.

It did not take long for the scoring to open though, with Elgin City taking a 2-goal lead within the first three minutes.  Fraserburgh pulled one back, and could have been back on level terms not long after.  But Elgin City once again pushed forward scoring another brace of goals to make it 4-1, after a penalty miss the half time whistle finally blew.

The second half started as Dynamically as the first ended with Elgin City pushing their lead to four goals from a headed in set piece.  Fraserburgh fought back and scored to make it 5-2 just before the hour mark.  In the last 35 minutes both teams had plenty of chances, none of which ended up in the back of the net.
