Every year, thousands of motorbikes of all shapes, sizes, forms and colours congregate to the Highland town of Aviemore to participate in a Motorbike-themed weekend of biking, music, socialising and camping! Â It is advertised as a Harley-Davidson owners meet-up but a lot of the bikes aren't actually Harley-Davidsons! Â This was the 15th event.
On the Saturday, me and my Dad made the trip to Aviemore to see the ride out. Â It is what it says on the tin - a four figure number of motorbikes head out to the Glens of Scotland simultaneously. Â As you can imagine, your eyes are filled with motorbikes and your ears thundered by the revving motorbikes! Â It truly is a spectacle to behold!Â
After arriving in Aviemore around 11:00 in the morning to have a brief look at the line-up of vehicles and to have a brief scout around for a good location to shoot the ride out from. Â On arrival we were greeted by hundreds of parked motorbikes and many with their riders having conversations between their new friends.
Â
Â
But with little time to spare, it was back onto the road to get into position for the ride out leaving at 12:00, we found a neat little road with a excellent straight walled in by trees to give a good background and waited. Â It wasn't looking before the bright lights appeared around the bend, accompanied by the sound of powerful engines arrived for 18 minutes of uninterrupted motorbike heaven! Â Many of the riders were extremely friendly with a lot of them waving as they went past me. Â There were others who had dressed up for the occasion with a kilt, or have a flag waving behind and one individual with a Bob the Builder character tied to the back!Â

After my ears had re-gained the ability to hear something other than motorbikes we headed back into Aviemore to get lunch at the ever-fantastic Smiffy's chipper - I seriously recommend it, the chips are amazing!  Then we had a look around to see what else was happening in Aviemore as part of Thunder In The Glens.  I arrived at the Cairngorm Hotel to see an artist playing in the trailer - he was doing covers and he seemed very good!  Didn't catch his name unfortunately.Â

I then went up to the other hotel - which I forget the name of - which had another guy playing in Harley-Davidson themed tent. Â There were also a lot of stalls and a burger van which is there annually and makes the best burgers available there (this is slowly turning into a food review!)
I then stumbled across a captive bird attraction, where injured birds had been taken in and cared for by a group of people who bring the birds to events and let people hold them. Â They had an incredible selection of birds including an Eurasian Eagle Owl, a Barn Owl and a Peregrine Falcon amongst many others!
Â

Then after another quick look around the rest it was time to hit the roads to catch some of the bikes on their journey back!
Â
We ended up back in the same spot as before, and we were even greeted by an appearance from the sun! Â Soon after, it was time to head back home after a fantastic day!Â
