Short blog here, but definitely a worthwhile read if you want to find out about a few new excellent bands!  The show was the Aberdeen date of Autumn In Disguise's October UK tour.  Autumn In Disguise are from Aberdeen so this gig, at the well known, locally, Cafe Drummonds, was their hometown gig.  They were on the tour with We Start Partys from Bristol and As We Climb from Cambridge.  Local support came from Entrosolet and Adrienne.

First up were Adrienne who are a local rock band from Aberdeen.  They are a five-person band with Finlay Urquhart on vocals and guitar, Cisco Hobbs and Kyle McKimmie on guitar, Scott Moir on bass and Robbie Mutch on drums.  They've been playing for almost a year now I believe and its more of a hobby that play local support at times rather than a band who are really trying hard to succeed.  Nevertheless, their music doesn't really make you think that and some of it is really quite amazing!  An ex-member, Louis Craighead, who is in Autumn In Disguise took to the stage with the rest of the band for one of their songs.

The next band to enter the stage were Entrosolet.  In a brilliant way, they are something very fresh and rather unique with their 'progressive tech metal'.  I have heard other bands attempt to create a mix between metal and some electro but many have tried and failed - on the other hand, these guys really seem to understand the genre and have created some amazing pieces of music and are beginning to get widely recognized - and rightly so!

They are a six-piece band, although their bassist had to leave the band recently.  I do understand that they are on their way to finding a new bassist to fit the role and take the position.  The five current members are Blair Mcleod - who, on occasion, finds himself with two microphones instead of one! - and Craig Sinkins on vocals to provide a balance of screamo and singing.  Darren Cruickshank and Andrew Larke are the guitarists, the later successfully windmilling his hair at the gig and making it look easy!  Finally, on drums we have George McPherson.

The third band of the night were As We Climb, who displayed to the crowd a skilful set of pop-punk music.  They have four members - Ben Scarr on lead vocals and guitar, James Bull also lending his backing vocals and playing guitar, Ryan Woolhead with backing vocals and bass and finally Ben Taylor also with backing vocals and playing drums.

The penultimate band of the night came from We Start Partys with an electric mix of dance, pop and punk all in one set.  Very enthusiastic band members too who were very keen to leave every corner of the stage tread on!  Also a four-piece band with Ben Hawthorn on lead vocals and guitar, Elys Sargunar on guitar, Dave Sully on bass and Matt Jenkinson on drums.

Rounding off the night in what was hoped to be spectacular style, Autumn In Disguise.  Their punk-rock like style set started off very well with the new songs giving the crowd something pretty fresh to listen to and the older songs resulting in the words being sung by their lead vocalist Mike Hendo, being sung right back at them!  Other members in the band are David Gonnella who was often referred to as 'the sex beast' and Stephen Napier who are both guitarists with Louis Craighead taking up bass and James Forbes smashing it up on the drums.

Everything was going smoothly until it went quiet, well not really, the microphones did but the guitars were still sending out musical genius.  No-one really knew what was going on - including me - until officials at Cafe Drummond ushered for them to get off the stage and everyone to get out because a fire alarm was sounding.  So out onto Belmont Street we went with about half the set still to be played we hoped they would get back on the stage.

As we waited a pink acoustic guitar was seen, and soon people were trying to make David Gonnella get on the tour van outside and play something.  They also then got Mike Hendo up, and ended up playing 'Lets Call This A Home Run', the single from their new album.  So despite the disappointment of not hearing the full set, we got a nice encore anyways!  It rounded off a great night in a humorous style.

Good luck to the three touring bands for the rest of their tour dates, and to the two local support bands who were superb!
